Spintex Robbery Attempt Ends in Tragic Crash: Thieves Lose Control After Snatching iPad
A dramatic scene unfolded along Spintex Road, Accra, after a group of suspected thieves allegedly snatched an iPad from a lady in broad daylight. Eyewitnesses say the robbers, driving a dark-colored private vehicle, sped off toward Teshie-Nungua, apparently planning to target more unsuspecting victims.
However, their crime spree took an unexpected turn when they lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a nearby building, bringing their attempted getaway — and their luck — to an abrupt end.
Eyewitness Accounts
According to residents in the area, the thieves were spotted around midday, pretending to ask for directions before quickly snatching the device from the victim.
> “It all happened so fast,” one eyewitness said. “They grabbed the iPad, jumped into the car, and sped off. Within minutes, we heard a loud crash.”
Others at the scene said the robbers’ car somersaulted after hitting a concrete structure near a busy junction. Passersby quickly rushed to the scene to help, while others called the police and ambulance services.
Victim’s Condition
The lady whose iPad was stolen is said to be shaken but safe. She reportedly assisted police with details that may help in identifying the suspects and recovering her stolen property.
Community Reactions
Social media users have reacted swiftly to the incident, with many calling it a “classic case of instant karma.” Others, however, used the opportunity to call for increased police patrols and street lighting along major roads like Spintex and Nungua Barrier, which have seen a rise in petty thefts.
